The midfielder of Stoke City Academy is following the footsteps of his father Stephen Ireland at the club level. But now, he has been called up to be a part of England team at under-15 level, where he spent his career. The Ireland Sr. has won a total of 6 caps for the Republic of Ireland. Jr. Ireland played the 2nd of 2 games versus Belgium at the venue St George’s Park of Burton which was played yesterday – with his mom Jessica posting a video clip on her Instagram account of him darting through in order to hit the crossbar with the left leg in defeat by 3-1.
Abdou Toure, the mercurial winger who also shined in FA Youth Cup of Stoke this season, is on standby for under 18-s of France and Joe Morris, the central midfielder has also played for under 12-s of Wales. Stephen Ireland’s own time at Stoke Academy was cut short by a horrible leg break and as a result, he was released in the last summer after he made some cameo appearances after the recovery. He also managed to earn a contract or short-term with the club of Bolton Wanderers, however, he left that club in December.
